Eyes of a German Child

Eyes of a German Child Panorama 8 bit

This mosaic was one in a series created for the exhibition “Nocturne” for the Chazou Gallery. Three pieces were created in reference to a photo of a girl with striking eyes taken by Erna Lendvai-Dircksen for the book Unsere Deutschen Kinder, published in 1932. I have named this piece “Eyes of a German Child” in her honour.

Light Eye 8 bit

The two eyes were built separately so they can either be hung together or individually. Each eye plays with different tones and contrast, one being dark and the other light. The concept is to show that everyone has a darker side to them. This is the lighter side, and is titled “Light Eye.”
