This mosaic is comprised of mother of pearl oyster shells on tempered glass. Viewed in normal light the image is hidden. When backlit the likeness of the Virgin Mary from the “The Virgin Annunciate” by Antonello da Messina appears.
When placed in a window the face is only seen in the day from the inside. At night the face is only visible from the outside when the interior lights are on.
When hit by the morning sun, it sets the room aglow.
